Nancy B Gilbert
February 10, 1954  -  January 12, 2026

Nancy Bernadette (McGee) Gilbert, aged 71, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026 at OSF St. Francis Hospital in
Escanaba.
Nancy was born on February 10, 1954 in Escanaba, Michigan, to the late Richard and Norine (Barth) McGee. She grew up in Escanaba, and relocated to Reno/Sparks, Nevada in 1974, along with her mother (Norine), brother (David Lindstrom), and sister (Roselynn Lindstrom). They all became members of Holy Cross Catholic Church, where their dear friend Fr. George Wolf presided.
While living in Nevada, she was employed at Rosie's Café inside the Nugget Casino, where she met Edward Solano, with whom she had a daughter (Colleen). A few years later, she met her husband (Alan R. Gilbert), whom she married on St. Patrick's Day, 1978. Together, they had a daughter (Jennifer), before relocating to California and then Arizona.
Wanting a return to her roots, Nancy, Alan and Jennifer moved back to Escanaba in 1989. She became a parishioner at Our Savior Lutheran Church, where she enjoyed attending services and events. Most of all, Nancy adored time spent with her family and four-legged
friends. She embraced love for all creatures, great and small.
Nancy stood by her sister Roselynn, and mother Norine, as they battled age and illness. They were very grateful for the care she provided, as it made a tremendous boost to their quality of life. Nancy was over-the-moon excited to caretake for her mother, as they were able to get reacquainted after 30+ years apart. Nancy deeply appreciated this opportunity, and described their time together as invaluable. In addition, Nancy volunteered at the Delta Animal Shelter, and was devoted to fostering ailing animals, while nursing them back to health. Among numerous others, Rocky the 3-legged cat, and Bongo the majestic husky lived long, happy lives thanks to her. Animals seemed to know that her home was a safe haven.
Nancy was a loving wife to her husband Alan "Rick" Gilbert, beloved mother to her daughters Jennifer (Peter Thiel) (Gilbert) and Colleen (Shawn Allen), and cherished grandmother to Shanna Sundling, Marcus Schwark, Konner (Schwark), and Madilyn Thiel. She was also a treasured sister-in-law to (Lisa) Lindstrom, and aunt to nephew John (Lindstrom) and niece Sarah (Mike) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her mother Norine, father Richard McGee, sister Roselynn Lindstrom, and brother David Lindstrom. It is our hope that Nancy has been reunited with those she held dear who have passed on, and has gained her much-deserved angel wings. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her.
Family will receive friends on Saturday, February 28, 2026 from 12 noon to 2 PM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Escanaba. Funeral services will begin at 2 PM with Pastor Ben Ramthun officiating and a luncheon will follow in the church hall. Nancy will be laid to rest in Holy Cross Cemetery in Escanaba. The Skradski Family Funeral Homes of Delta County are assisting the Gilbert family.
